Reps Adopt 12 Public Petitions Reports On Fraud, Dismissals, Electoral Disputes

The House of Representatives has adopted 12 reports on public petitions bordering on allegations of fraud, unlawful dismissals, community grievances and electoral disputes.

The adoption followed the presentation of the reports by the Chairman, House Committee on Public Petitions, Laori Kwamoti, during plenary in Abuja.
Kwamoti said the petitions were referred to the committee at different times for investigation and recommendations, covering a wide range of complaints from individuals, corporate entities and communities.

Among the reports adopted was a petition filed by Wisdom and Grace on behalf of Mr Anthony Onyeabor against Aso Savings and Loans Plc over the alleged illegal and fraudulent concession of a property in Sungold Estate, Galadimawa, Abuja, to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Also adopted was a petition by former boxer, Bash Ali, seeking intervention over the proposed Guinness World Record Boxing Championship Fight in Africa, with allegations of sabotage against the National Sports Commission.

The House further considered a petition by EAGELTEL Synergy Limited against MPS Technologies Limited over the alleged non-payment of N61.4 million and unethical business practices.

Another report involved a petition by Mr Akinwale Tayo against the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) over alleged unlawful dismissal from service.

Similarly, the House adopted a report on a petition by Mr Adam Tarfa against the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) over claims of wrongful termination.

The lawmakers also considered a petition filed by Alifoma Consult Nigeria on behalf of Obodougwa Umusam community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta against Xernergi Company Limited.

In addition, a report on a petition by employees of the University of Calabar, engaged between 2019 and 2020 but yet to be payrolled and reinstated, was adopted.

Kwamoti also presented a report on a petition by Concerned Citizens for Justice and Accountability against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging failure to investigate fraud complaints involving Property World Africa Network (PWAN) and issues surrounding a whistleblower.

Ruling on the matter, the Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, directed that the adopted reports be transmitted to the relevant agencies for implementation and compliance.
