The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent online recruitment notice claiming that the commission has commenced the recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 general elections.
INEC, in a statement, said its attention had been drawn to a message circulating online inviting members of the public to apply for ad-hoc positions through a website being promoted on social media.
The commission described the information as false, stressing that the recruitment portal being circulated is not owned or authorised by INEC.
It urged members of the public not to click on the link, provide personal information, upload documents or make payments through the platform, warning that doing so could expose unsuspecting applicants to fraud and identity theft.
According to the commission, all legitimate recruitment exercises and election-related announcements will be communicated through its verified channels and official website.
INEC therefore advised Nigerians seeking information about its activities to rely only on official communication channels and to verify recruitment notices before responding to them.
The commission also recalled that it had previously warned the public about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements purporting to originate from INEC.
It urged members of the public to disregard the latest notice and refrain from further circulating it.
“Stay informed. Stay safe. Always verify before you click,” the commission advised.
