The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has commenced a manhunt for persons responsible for generating and circulating a purported press release announcing the commencement of training for 50,000 newly recruited police constables.
The Force, in a disclaimer issued on the document titled, “IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu Directs Commencement of Training for 50,000 Newly Recruited Police Constables,” said the release was false and neither issued nor authorised by the NPF.
The fake document bears the name and designation of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, anipr.
The Police said it would take appropriate legal action against those found culpable, warning that the perpetrators would be held accountable for their actions.
The Force advised members of the public, particularly police recruitment candidates, to disregard the contents of the fake release and rely only on information published through the official police recruitment portal and verified NPF communication channels.
