The newly inaugurated management of the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC) has cautioned companies operating in Bonny Local Government Area (LGA) against circumventing established employment procedures.

Chairman of the BIRC, Adawari Jumbo, issued the warning on Tuesday in Bonny, Rivers State, alongside Chairman of the Bonny Kingdom Employment Monitoring Committee, Michael Pepple, and members of both bodies.

Jumbo said the centre would not hesitate to nullify any employment carried out outside approved channels, stressing that such opportunities would be reassigned to qualified indigenes and residents of the LGA.

Chairman, Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC), Adawari Jumbo.

“The BIRC, under my leadership, will not tolerate erring companies,” he said.

“We will identify organisations that undermine due process by recruiting outside the BIRC framework, and we will withdraw such placements and return them to our people.”

He accused some firms of importing labour to fill positions that could be handled by locals, warning that the practice would no longer be condoned.
Jumbo also urged youths in the area to refrain from disruptive actions at project sites, advising them to channel grievances through appropriate mechanisms, including the BIRC.

“We will not allow youths to invade company premises to agitate,” he said. “If there are complaints, they should be directed to the appropriate authorities.”

He declared the Agaja site an active industrial and pipeline zone, warning residents to stay away for safety and regulatory reasons.

“If you have issues, bring them to the BIRC. There is hope. You do not need to resort to protests at project sites,” he added, providing an emergency contact line for complaints and inquiries.

The BIRC management team, led by Jumbo, and the Employment Monitoring Committee, headed by Pepple, were inaugurated on April 3, 2026, by the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Abinye Pepple.
