RSG Moves to Strengthen Local Content Through Expatriate Attachee Initiative

The Rivers State Government has called on the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to fully implement the recently reviewed Expatriate Administration System (EAS) policy, which includes the Expatriate Quota (EQ) programme, aimed at promoting knowledge transfer and local content development.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Benibo Fredrick Anabraba, made the call during a courtesy visit by the Comptroller of Immigration, Rivers State Command, CIS Yabagi Ibrahim Abdulmajeed, and his team in Port Harcourt.

Hon. Anabraba emphasized that the Governor Siminalayi Fubara-led administration remains committed to partnering with the NIS and other security agencies for the benefit of residents and sustainable economic growth. He noted that the Expatriate Attachee Policy, which allows Nigerians to work alongside expatriates for hands-on learning, would help develop local manpower and ensure efficient technology transfer across industries.

He reaffirmed the State Government’s open-door policy, assuring continuous collaboration with the Immigration Service to promote employment, security, and economic advancement.

In his remarks, CIS Abdulmajeed highlighted ongoing reforms in visa and passport processing and revealed that several undocumented immigrants had been identified and apprehended, urging citizens to avoid shielding such individuals.
