The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has intensified its grassroots mobilisation efforts, directing members of its State Working Committee (SWC) to immediately commence supervision of membership registration and voter mobilisation activities across the state’s 23 local government areas.
The party said the exercise forms part of its broader strategy to build a formidable political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections and advance what it described as its mission to “rescue and liberate” Rivers State through people-oriented leadership and governance.
State Chairman of the party, Chief Chukwudi Dimkpa, said the directive was aimed at strengthening the ADC’s presence at the grassroots while encouraging eligible citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the democratic process.
According to him, all SWC members have been assigned to oversee the exercise in their respective local government areas and are expected to work closely with local government executives to ensure its successful implementation.
Dimkpa directed that detailed reports indicating the number of new members registered and persons mobilised for voter registration be submitted within two weeks.
He described the exercise as critical to the party’s expansion drive and called on party leaders across the state to provide the necessary leadership and support required for its success.
The ADC chairman also urged Rivers residents who are yet to register or update their voter information to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that meaningful change can only be achieved through active civic participation.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to offering an alternative platform anchored on credible leadership, economic revitalisation, infrastructure development, job creation and accountable governance.
“The task of rescuing and liberating Rivers State requires the active participation of the people. This mobilisation exercise is designed to deepen our engagement with communities and prepare citizens to play their role in shaping the future of the state,” he said.
The directive comes amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with the ADC positioning itself as a viable alternative for Rivers people seeking a new direction in governance.
