2027 Polls: With 30 Governors, Tinubu Will Cruise To Victory — APC

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is firmly positioned for re-election in 2027, citing the ruling party’s control of about 30 states across the country.

Fagbemi made the assertion on Wednesday in Ilorin during a stakeholders’ engagement and the official flag-off of the APC’s e-registration and membership revalidation exercise in the state.

According to him, the increasing number of APC governors has strengthened the party’s political structure nationwide and significantly boosted Tinubu’s chances ahead of the next general election.

He said, “At our National Executive Committee meeting in December, Mr President took stock and realised that the APC had 28 governors at the time. As we speak now, two more have joined or are on the verge of joining. That brings the number to about 30 governors.

“With this development, the President’s re-election will be a smooth sail. What is left is for us at the sub-national level to ensure that we deliver our states.”

Fagbemi also praised Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for what he described as loyalty and cooperation with the Federal Government, noting that the governor’s relationship with the presidency had translated into tangible benefits for the state.

“Governor AbdulRazaq is not arrogant or headstrong. He is not in unhealthy competition with the President, and he recognises the importance of the presidency. This attitude has reflected in the development the President has brought to Kwara, including tax relief,” he said.
He added that the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise marked the formal commencement of the party’s preparation for the 2027 elections.

“This exercise is about laying the foundation for the next election. It is about mobilising people and ensuring you have members who will come out to vote for the party,” Fagbemi stated.

Speaking at the event, Governor AbdulRazaq, who was recorded as the first registrant in the exercise, said the process was aimed at strengthening the party and generating accurate data for effective planning.

The governor stressed that the registration must be inclusive, warning party officials against sidelining willing members.

“It is important for us to know how many we are in this exclusive club, which is arguably the biggest party in Africa. This is the party that has developed Nigeria at the federal, state and local government levels,” AbdulRazaq said.

He urged registration officials to go beyond registering existing members by actively canvassing new ones.

“Do not exclude anyone. We need all the members we can get. This exercise is an opportunity to market the party. Use the achievements at the federal, state and local government levels to expand the party,” he added.

AbdulRazaq said his administration had executed projects across critical sectors, making Kwara State more viable and developed than in the past.

“The facts speak for themselves. Across every sector, we have recorded visible and sterling performances,” he said.
He also noted that possession of a National Identity Number was mandatory for registration.

The event was attended by party chieftains, federal and state lawmakers, members of the State Executive Council, board chairmen and other stakeholders.
