The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building a stronger relationship with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to promote good governance and active citizens participation.
Alhaji Aminu Gwarzo, the Deputy Governor of Kano State stated this at the opening of a two-day Kano State Civil Society Conference on Monday in Kano.
The theme of the conference isĀ āEmpowering CSOs in Kano for Sustainable, Active Democratic Participation and Grassroots Development.
He urged CSOs to remain dedicated, avoid corruption, and shun sentiments in their daily activities.
GwarzoĀ emphasised the critical role CSOs play in tracking governance,Ā and appealed to them to enlighten the public on the dangers of social vices and promote peace and harmony.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, MrĀ Abdullahi Waiya, said that the conference aimed to enhance effective service delivery and strengthen collaboration between government and non-state actors.
He stated that the administration isĀ committedĀ to transparency and welcomes genuine criticism to improve service delivery.
The conference Ā brought together participants fromĀ organisations within and outside the stateĀ to discuss issues that could deepen good governance, and fosterĀ mutual working relationship between CSOs and the government.
